Record Label Site:
<!–Some old friends of mine from way back when contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in developing a site for their startup record label. Of course I was! The site in it’s current form has been a challenge. We started with a general idea of what we wanted and went from there. The CEO came up with the look of the site and I weighed in on the functional elements which include submission and upload forms, embedded MP3 players, voting mechanisms (which had to be templated just right), a blog, a forum, an artists section and we’re not done yet. I am also responsible for vendor identificaiton and engagement. This is considered v2 of the site and we are immediately getting to work on v3. For v3, I am going to come up with a complete IA and Project Plan and manage the execution of the chosen design and deveopment team. We are also looking to tie it altogether by leveraging the Open Source CMS Joomla along with the Simple Machines Forum over phpBB.–>

Flash presentation interface(.html )

<!–We had been creating cd’s with a static htmlpage to present the Flash work our agency had done. It required thatthe potential client open the cd, know that they had to double-click on the index file (normally named clickme.html) and then would navigate this rather unattractive page that was the template we used for client comps. I thought it would be a good idea to use a Flash interafce that was published as an executable to autorun when the CD was inserted. I quickly developed this interface and showed it to our Creative Director who was quite pleased as it complemented the design of the presentation CD (below) nicely.–>

Client Presentation CD (.html)

<!–This project involved finding a vendor whose prices and timeline were within our budget. I worked with the designer to get the eps files to the vendor’s production staff in a timely fashion to keep the project within the specified timeframe. The result was this, a simple minimal and cost-effective medium we used for sending client presentation to potential customers.–>

Project file structure diagram(.pdf)

<!–The goal of this project was to develop a diagram to represent the strucure that management wanted to implement on all future projects. With input from management and staff, I developed this diagram to provide a visible representation of the folder strucure that would be used in all proceeding projects.–>

Setting up password protection in Apache Server(.pdf)

<!–When using Apache web server on the Linux platform to host a marketing site and to display projects for clients, security is prime. In order to allow clients work to be secure it is important to have these sub-sites password protected. In order to ensure that we can always provide this level of security, I developed this document to provide detailed instructions on the process of setting up password-protected folders. The challenge with this was to provide enough detail to non-technical staff while not overwhelming them with technical verbiage.–>

Sitemap for agricultural feed project(.pdf)

<!–This was a project that set out to create an online market for buyers and producers in the agricultural feed industry to meet and make online transactions. In this project, it was my job to compile information on the possible different categories for agricultural feed. In order to do this, I worked with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide me with the normal categories used in the industry. I quickly discovered that the industry did not have a standard to make such distinctions and because of this the challenge became creating a flexible strucuture in which we could populate the different products. I then took this wireframe, originally created by the lead Information Architect, and updated it with the insights gleaned from my conversations with the SME.–>

Wire frame for agricultural feed project(.html)

<!–This is the resultant wire frame for a section of the interaction I worked on for the feed project. I was assigned to work on the Adding Ingredients to the database. The challenge of categorization really came in to play here as I had to really work at categorizing what an entire industry hadn’t bothered to do for decades. Working with the SME and Sr. IA on the project, we came up with a flexible and highly useful categorization scheme represented in this successful interation.–>

Sitemap for corporate knowledge management tool(.pdf)

<!–An intranet is a tremendous resource for any company. This was a project that set out to design and implement a company-wide intranet along with a client extranet that employess could use to leverage online communications, resource sharing, and online reference. On this project, my first as an Information Architect, it was my responsibility to develop a high-level sitemap to detail the information architecture.–>

Idea Generator navigation

(.html 1)(.html 2) (.html 3)(.html4) (.html 5)
<!–Before the bubble burst, a friend of mine who is a developer came up with the idea of creating an online Idea Generator to help facilitate decision making when it came to social affairs. It was intended, as I came to understand it, to not simply be a repository of entertainment oriented businesses but also an agent that would customize itself to your likes and tastes over time. She asked me to develop a visual interface and gave me total ownership of all navigation decisions. I was poised to become the Chief Experience Officer had this thing ever really taken off. Well the bubble burst, and here I am and this is pretty much all that was ever produced for the concept.–>

Discarded Flash splash screen (.html requires Flash plugin)

<!–Since being downsized, I’ve played with the thought of starting a small company to target small to medium businesses. To that end I started developing ideas for a company and as part of that process I developed this Flash splash screen to promote the type of work I want to do. I discarded it after deciding it didn’t properly convey the image I wanted to associate with the work. I do like it, though, and it’s a good example of the Flash skills I’ve developed.–>
