Meetings Revolt!

May 12, 2006 – 5:15 am

There seems to be growing resentment against meetings as mentioned on LifeHacker. I find this rather interesting because I don’t go to many meetings. Being a systems professional is a very self-directed and often underfunded duty. When I do arrange meetings, I try to make certain they are very specific and brief. When I am invited, I try to make certain that my presence is indeed required before I agree to attend. It does amuse me, though, at how often someone in my position is not included in on projects that have an IT element. Requests are often made close to the end of projects when people suddenly realize they need something from us and then we are left scrambling.
